I arrived at Natashquan on the North Coast after a long journey of 600 kilometers. On arrival, I right away remarked on the village, lit up by the soft evening light. The sky was blue and the warm color of the light motivated me to quickly find an evocative site to take a photograph. I had to work quickly as the sun was starting to approach the horizon. I only had 15 minutes to find the right location that would give me an interesting composition. I took the instinctive decision to head towards the sea, which turned out to be an excellent one.
Next to the Port of Natashquan is found a spot where marbled rose granite intermingles with grasses tossed about by the wind floating on the blue waves of the gulf of the St. Lawrence. The location is perfect. The warmth of the sun contrasts strangely with the extreme cold of the wind.
This photograph, where the rose tint of the granite is intensified by the magnificent evening sky, marks in the best way my official arrival at the North Coast.
